On November 6, the Ministry of Transport (MOT) sent a document to the Dong Nai Department of Transport giving opinions on investing in the construction of National Highway 20B from Long Thanh International Airport to the expressway. Phan Thiet – Dau Giay.
According to the Ministry of Transport, it is necessary to research and invest in the construction of this route according to planning, to meet the needs of exploiting the next phases of Long Thanh airport.
With the current status of National Highway 20B planned to coincide with Provincial Road 769E under the management of the People’s Committee of Dong Nai province, the Ministry of Transport requests that Dong Nai province base on regulations to proactively mobilize investment resources. Invest in upgrading, expanding, and ensuring that it meets the criteria for upgrading to a national highway. In addition, because the route overlaps with the North-South high-speed railway, during implementation, Dong Nai province needs to coordinate closely with specialized agencies under the Ministry of Transport and the Corporation. Specifically, according to the Road Network Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister, National Highway 20B is planned to become a national highway on the basis of local roads with road scale. level III, 2-4 lanes.
The route has an expected length of about 41km. The starting point intersects with Ring Road 3 of Ho Chi Minh City, the ending point intersects with the Eastern North-South Expressway, Phan Thiet-Dau Giay section, in Cam My district.
In particular, the section from Ring Road 3 of Ho Chi Minh City to Long Thanh airport has a length of about 31.5km, serving as a connection between the airport and the central area of Ho Chi Minh City.
